Crystalyn’s first encounter with the magic of unconventional style began with childhood Saturdays with her grandfather Jack. Dressed to the nines with his own odd flair for fashion, mixing red plaid with yellow argyle and donning his white perforated leather shoes and matching belt, Jack’s choices were rarely understood and often mocked. Crystalyn, a kindred soul, took the time to grasp her grandfather’s unique style. Nearly 20 years later, she used those same plaid pants and vintage floral fabric in her first collection, which was enthusiastically received by boutiques and press alike.
Crystalyn leads design and production for Crystalyn Kae handbags, drawing inspiration from quality vintage fabrics, rich color palettes, with emphasis on style and function. In 2015, Crystalyn was selected as a Venture Fellow at Pratt University's Brooklyn Fashion Design Accelerator, where her workshop now resides. She personally oversees hand craftsmanship, regularly visits retail boutiques, and frequently makes appearances at special events.
